December, 18th


QUERIDO ALUMNADO:
Hoy 18 de Diciembre me ha dado el médico el alta así que el lunes 21 de Diciembre me incorporo de nuevo a las clases. Por tanto a los grupos de MARTES Y JUEVES no nos veremos hasta el 12 de Enero de 2010.
Quiero recordarles que que LA PRUEBA PARCIAL se realizará del 18 al 28 de Enero como así se informó cuando dimos la fotocopia de los CRITERIOS DE EVALUACIÓN(los tienes en la página principal del blog, en NB I y también la web de la EOI). Por tanto el VIERNES 22 DE ENERO en horario de clase se realizará la PRUEBA ORAL (SPEAKING). El MARTES 26 DE ENERO en horario de clase se realizará la PRUEBA DE ESCUCHA Y LECTURA(NO ES EL LIBO DE LECTURA)(LISTENING AND READING) y el JUEVES 28 DE ENERO la PRUEBA DE REDACCIÓN ESCRITA (WRITING).

Por favor, aprovechen las vacaciones de Navidad para estudiar. Pueden practicar de nuevo con las actividades que ya están en el blog.

Please open your book on page 16. Today we studied vocabulary related to the jobs. So read exercise number 1 a). I gave the students a photocopy with more vocabulary. We listened to the CD (exercise 2 c) and 3) and we reviewed the SHORT ANSWER with exercise number 5 on page 17.
HOMEWORK: Page 17 exercises 6 and 8. And from the photocopy number 13 jobs(2).

On Tuesday we practiced the plural. Please, read the information you have on October 29/ 30th.
We did exercises from the book. On page 10 (Things in your bag), and on page 11 we did the exercise 9 about A/AN. REMEMBER: A/AN means UN/UNA. We use A when the word starts by consonants(for example a bag) but we use AN when the word starts by vowels (for example an answer). We did exercise 11 and 13 about CLASSROOM LANGUAGE. On page 12 you have information about the PLURAL. We practiced the plurals with the exercise 6 on page 12 and with the photocopy.
PLEASE, go to page 100, 101, 102, 103, 104 and study. En estas páginas encontrarás toda la información sobre lo que hemos estado estudiando. Fíjate y sólo estudia lo que hemos hecho en clase ya que en alguna de estas página encontrarás cosas que todavía no hemos estudiado.

WHAT'S........IN SPANISH?
HOW IS IT PRONOUNCED? or HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE IT?
WHAT DOES.......MEAN?
On Friday we studied the PLURAL. In English there are 4 rules for the plural:
1. We add -S to the singular. For example: SPIDER SPIDERS
2. We add -ES to words ending in -S, -SS, -SH, -CH, -X, . For example: BUS BUSES
3. The words that end in -Y: They change Y for -I and we add ES. For example: BABY BABIES
4. The words that end in F:They change in V + ES. For example: HALF HAVES
REMEMBER: There are PLURALS in English that are IRREGULAR:
MAN - MEN
WOMAN - WOMEN
PERSON- PEOPLE
CHILD - CHILDREN

When you write the days of the week you have to use CAPITAL letters.

It's Monday.

What day is it tomorrow?

It's Tuesday.

What days are the weekend?

They're Saturday and Sunday.

Fíjate que cuando hacemos preguntas en inglés con el verbo TO BE debemos responder también con el verbo TO BE y debemos usar los mismos pronombre personales. Por ejemplo:

SHE'S FROM RUSSIA
WHERE ARE THEY FROM?
THEY'RE FROM FRANCE
Another question we studied today was WHAT'S YOUR NATIONALITY? and the answer I'M SPANISH.
Si queremos preguntar por la nacionalidad de una tercera persona debemos cambiar el pronombre YOUR. Por ejemplo:

WHAT'S HIS NATIONALITY?
HE'S GERMAN
YOUR NATIONALITY - tu nacionalidad

September 15th/17th

El alumnado matriculado en Nivel Básico I con horario de 16:00-18:00 y de 18:00-20:00 recibió información sobre la EOI Puerto del Rosario. Se les entregó una fotocopia con informción sobre la EOI y también un folleto informativo confeccionado por la Consejería de Educación sobre la GRIPE A. Toda esta información al igual que el listado de los libros a utilizar en este curso como otro material recomendado se encuentran en el panel del AULA 3, en la página principal de nuestro blog y en la página web de la EOI Puerto del Rosario. Importante es mencionar los viernes que hay clases.
